CCTV – Escalator Fail

Surveillance video has been released by Metro of an escalator malfunction at the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station. The crowds attending the John Stewart and Stephen Colbert event on the National Mall, Oct. 30th, were huge. In fact, it was the biggest Saturday rider ship in Metro-rail history. There are three escalators at the L’Enfant Promenade entrance to Metro. The middle one and the right one were taking people downward that day. A security camera at the bottom captured these images. At first both downward escalators are running at normal speed with people strolling off at the bottom. Then the middle escalator suddenly speeds up with people at first running away from the bottom to clear a path for those behind them. Then someone falls at the bottom and a human pileup begins. We put this Metro security video on our website and showed it to Peyton Robertson of West River Maryland. He and his family were on that Metro escalator when it started speeding up. Robertson says, “Initially the reaction was oh good we’re moving faster. Then in about a split second I realized that’s not good. This escalator’s out of control and we were hurtling towards the bottom. So gut instinct I decided I didn’t want to wind up at the bottom of the pile so I jumped over the railing and grabbed my son and he slid down behind me. We slid down the balustrade that runs between the two escalators.” You can see in the security video people jumping off both sides of the escalator. After a few seconds of

www.alliedfireandsecurity.com Hello, I’m Eric Amsbury with Allied Fire & Security Portland. Today we are going to discuss Open Eye DVR’s. A DVR is a Digital Video Recorder. This is used in place of the old school VCR where the videos are being stored digitally. We’re going to show you a couple little quick steps on how to review and show your playback and watch your images on the cameras. This is your standard home screen. These are your cameras, we have more cameras on the system. To review a camera, you’re going to come up here and you’re going to click on the search icon. That’s going to take you in the search screen. You will know you’re in the search screen by the banner at the top. Next what you want to do is you want to select the camera from across the bottom. You can view more than one camera at a time. It speeds it up if you just view one camera. So we’ll pick a camera. You will see we have fast forward, play, play forward and backwards. We have some speed settings here as well. What we want to do is we want to come down what looks like a calendar. Click on the calendar. It’s going to bring up a calendar. In the calendar itself, the red day is the current day we are on, the blue day indicates recorded video for that day. So we are going to pick today. Click on that day, you will see the current day that you are searching (it happens to be in the lower right hand corner here) also brings up the time. If I want to change the time, I would use the time slider bar

Recordable Home Surveillance?

Does any one know of an affordable outdoor home surveillance system that records. We are having problems with our neighbor and think he is vandalizing our house but can’t prove it. We have filed a police report and they recommend surveillance to catch him in the act. We need to be able to record the surveillance. I don’t know very much about home surveillance or how it would record, any help will be great =)
