Want to use HDMI to carry digital video straight to TV while I use optical cable for sound to my A/V receiver which has no HDMI connection. Hmmm.

Answer only if you have a valid source because i need evidence for a topic concerning wiretapping and the constitution. I don’t know how the NSA taps into people’s phones, but i guess that they dont go inside their houses and place bugs and other surveillance systems, but instead work with the telephone companies, like AT & T. i don’t need your opinion:p, i need evidence and sources, from news websites to magazines and .gov sites.

I’m looking for an HDMI Receiver that can take HDMI inputs from my PC, Blu-Ray player, and possilby other sources and separately output HDMI video to a display and 7.1 audio to the surround sound system. I see lots of receivers that have HDMI support, but I haven’t found any that do exactly what I want. I don’t know if they even exist. The PC has HDMI output with Video and Audio in a single cable. It then needs to go to the receiver which passes the video to the TV and the Audio goes out to the Surround Sound system. The same needs to be true with the DVD/Blu-Ray player. Any ideas?
You aren’t getting it. That’s what I’m trying to avoid. I don’t want to run a separate cable for Audio and Video. In response to the first answer, I only want one HDMI output. I want the receiver to do the switching so the TV stays on the same channel, and the Receiver switches video/ audio feed between input sources. Most of them do like you said, and just passively pass the a/v through. I’m looking for a specific make/model that you can show me as an example, if possible. Thanks.

I have a system already running a recorder, and i have cameras and wiring. I need two cameras/cabling moved to other locations around the shop, and i need the other 4 cameras adjusted as to where they point to give better coverage. How much am I looking at for labor? The wiring will have to be run through the attic so i know its probably not going to be cheap. Thanks!
